Uganda Ministry Update from Mike Elikins

In this video, Mike Elkins tells us how planning for the Arise Discipleship and Retreat Center in Arua, Uganda continues even during this time of pandemic quarantine. When completed, the campus will provide a place of worship, study, outreach, and ministry for seekers and believers alike throughout East Africa. Mike, his wife Megan, and boys Kohen and Keen live in Arua where Mike and Megan lead our Ugandan staff.

Giving Tuesday

Thank you very much for your response to #GivingTuesday Now on May 5th! God’s provision through your giving on and around that day has been tremendous at a time when the need is great. Because of your generosity, His Voice is able to continue our ministry by:

  • Providing a safe haven for boys and girls in our care in Kenya and Uganda

  • Ensuring  the safety of the children by providing continual on-site care during quarantine

  • Helping to provide food and other essential items for the children

  • Providing for assistance with school work inside the Rescue Centers in Kenya

  • Providing assistance to South Sudanese students in refugee camps as possible

Maximizing Your Giving

From time to time, we provide information that might prove useful to your giving strategy and the potential impact on your tax savings. Contact us at info@hisvoiceglobal.com to discuss this further.

The newly enacted CARES Act temporarily suspends the requirements for required minimum distributions (RMD) for the 2020 tax year. This probably comes as a relief to many of you who would have had to withdraw from your retirement accounts. Many donors use their RMD to make a gift from their IRA. Despite the RMD suspension, remember that if you are 70 ½ or older, you can still make a gift from your IRA or name a nonprofit as a beneficiary.

Why a Gift from Your IRA May Still Be a Good Idea

  • Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making

  • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions

  • Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.
