A Shining Example

We are so grateful for the generosity and support you showed by participating in the inaugural His Voice Global Giving Day last month! By giving early in the year, you have allowed us to give the go-ahead to start building cabins for out-of-area guests at the Arise Center and accelerate physical and spiritual support to more people than expected in South Sudan and Uganda via our Shine program.

God has been very clear about our purpose with the Shine program, and He has clearly shown us how we can help those in need of food, clean water, medical assistance, housing, and encouragement so they can become all God intends them to be. Through this program, with your support and prayers, we are able to see Relationships Restored and Communities Renewed.

A Reason For Our Urgency

Timing is critical because Russia is a large food exporter to the region in which we work, so the price of food is likely to keep going up, affecting millions of East Africans. This will cause many to become more vulnerable than they already are. The good news is that His Voice is ALREADY SET UP and ready to meet these needs logistically! With the Arise Center as our hub and the Shine program up and running, we are prepared to help those in need. On the flip side, the price we pay for food will be going up as our food sources become more limited.

Watch the above video of co-founder Amber Burger as she expresses her thanks and further describes this urgency.

Raising Up Leaders

Welcome to a new section of our feed, Raising Up Leaders

From the vulnerable days of childhood to becoming future adult leaders in their communities, our hope is that monthly you will get to know our students individually and catch a glimpse of their world. We can’t wait for you to see how God has allowed you to be a part of relationships restored, communities renewed.

Meet Kennedy.

Kennedy is a college student with HVG. He recently graduated with his two-year certificate in Electrical from Ragem, Arua Technical Institute. When Kennedy was in primary school, he loved to play with batteries, wires, and other electronics to see what they would do. This sparked his interest in electricity. He finished secondary school at the Nehemiah Orphanage and went on to do work in Yei using his electrical skills he learned on his own. In 2018, Kennedy moved to Arua, Uganda to start his formal education at Ragem, Arua Technical Institute.

He finished his certificate training. Since then, Kennedy has been busy working and getting more experience in his field.

His Voice Global was pleased to have him install electrical and solar at Arise. He has been able to do several projects for our Shine program. He has installed solar at three houses and will be working on his fourth house in the coming weeks. He has been installed solar at a church for a pastor who has been a long-time mentor to him. Having solar power is of great value to these families and the church. He has done work with fellow missionaries in their houses and even in our own Family Mentor’s homes.

Kennedy’s work has extended beyond Arise and the Shine community to neighboring communities. He recruited two boys in the Mvara community to help him with a few electrical projects and has been able to start training them to learn more about electricity.

Kennedy said what he likes the best about the Shine program is by reaching out to people it encourages them to remind them that people still love them.

Kennedy is quite the dancer and loves to entertain with his dancing skills at student gatherings. He enjoys singing, playing drums, and working out. He is an athlete and is an avid Arsenal soccer fan. Kennedy give 110% in everything he does.

Kennedy’s next hope is to attend Uganda Technical College in the city of Lira to earn his diploma in electrical work. His goal is to own his own business and employ and teach others.

We hope you have enjoyed meeting Kennedy. Please pray for him this week.
